Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Accident!

7 08 2009

Sooo…I carry this lovely makeup case in my car. It is very unsuspecting because it is a Wal-Mart pencil case that I keep my makeup in. Anyhow, I left it in my glove compartment in my car and rode around with it in there for about 3 days before I realized that my pricey Bobbi Brown concealer kit was in it!! YIKES!

Needless to say, I opened my makeup case and immediately saw creamy concealer oozing out of the compact and into my makeup case!

So, here the proof!

BB2

Just a warning to all of my fellow Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer lovers! Don’t leave the precious little compact in the car!

I love, love, love this creamy concealer kit by Bobbi Brown and will never, ever leave it in my car again! I don’t know what I was thinking!

Sultry Nude Lip!

30 07 2009

Sultry lip 1

I am a huge fan of the nude lip!  I don’t feel that my sultry, nude lip is appropriate for work, however it’s perfect for happy hour or night events.  It’s my holy grail nude peachy gold lip and it was inspired by a post from Troy Jensen’s blog post entitled “Get Naked.”  He is the creator of the Kim Kardashian smokey eye that everyone would love to recreate and he’s a well-known Hollywood makeup artist to the stars. He gave me new inspiration to go find a great nude lip. Thanks Troy!

In the blog post, he makes several suggestions for nude lips.  While I did not purchase any of the lippies he suggested, I did find my nude lip through his suggestions and looks.

Here it is:

Sultry, Nude Lip

What I used:

MAC Creamola Cremestick Liner – used after applying Promiscuous

NARS Promiscuous lipstick – base

Prescriptives Moonbeam Lipgloss in Eclipse – in the middle of my upper and lower lip

I love it and if you are close in skin tone to me, you’ll love it too!  For reference, I am a MAC NC42!

All HAIL – MAC Spiced Chocolate Quad!

30 07 2009

I was heading out for summer vacation in the Caribbean with my husband last weekend and as we were departing I realized that I forgot to pack my Lancome Sable Eyebrow pencil – it’s my HG eyebrow pencil! So I decided to check out the Duty Free store to pick up a MAC Spiked brow pencil as a less costly alternative…and, I’ve always wanted to try it. While at the counter, I looked at the MAC Trip II collection and I was not blown away by what they had left – one eye palette and two lips palettes. So there I was checking out the counter – they had several items from older limited edition collections in stock – Dame Edna, Hello Kitty, Christmas 2008 and others.

I was looking around the counter and noticed a little tray of limited edition items that they still had in stock. They had the MAC Hello Kitty palettes, Tippy blush and some Rose Romance collection items. Anyhow, as I was sifting through everything I noticed a palette that reminded me of Spiced Chocolate, which I was never able to get my hands on because I didn’t make a big deal of it when I initially saw it last fall with the Cult of Cherry release. By the time I noticed it, it was out of stock everywhere. There it was!

All hail – The Spiced Chocolate quad!!!!!

My eyeballs just about popped out of my head. I couldn’t believe it. I politely asked the MUA at the counter if there were anymore left and she said – WE HAVE ONE MORE LEFT! Needless to say, I purchased it!!!! SCORE! She said three quads randomly showed up in their last shipment. It is a bit expensive ($36.00) and I wanted to ask if I could buy the display as well, but I really didn’t need to, so I resisted…

I didn’t end up buying or really needing a brow pencil.

My assessment of Spiced Chocolate:

The colors in Spiced Chocolate are beautiful! I don’t have swatches to show because many other sites have already provided them. I can see how many have said that there are dupes for the colors. I agree. I do think that this is one of the best color combinations that MAC has ever put together in one plaette. It’s right up there with the Pandomonium quad, in my opinion. Based on my collection, the dupes are Cranberry, Embark, Coppering and Shroom – they are not exact, but close enough.

Other items that I own from the Cult of Cherry collection: Liqueur Lipglass – Love it!  I really regret not buying more from that collection when it was released – REALLY!

FOTD: Social Recruiting Summit Tweet Up – June 14, 2008

30 07 2009

Welcome to my blog! It is a work in progress and this is my FIRST POST!!! YEAH!

I attended the Social Recruiting Summit in San Francisco on June 13, 2009 and took a few photos of my makeup for the events! Please remember that this is a work meeting, thus the pictures are not dramatic at all. Most of my makeup is more suited for those looking for a subtle look through the week and a more dramatic look on the weekends!

A Tweet Up was held on the Sunday evening leading up to the Summit on Monday and I did my makeup as well as a friend’s. She is sort of picture shy, so I did not get ANY photos of her makeup and boy am I regretting it now because it looked great! Actually, her makeup looked better than my own! Anyway, on to the goods!

I will do a San Francisco Airport International Terminal SEPHORA store haul post following this FOTD to share what I purchased while waiting for my friends to arrive on later flights. I had two and a half hours to kill…

In case you’re wondering, I do not wear liquid foundation at all in the summer…

I used:

Face Powder: Lancome Dual Finish, color: Matte Dore
Cheeks: Urban Decay Baked Bronzer in Baked
Concealer: MAC Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer in NW30

Eyes: Stila Charmed Eyeshadow Palette (Sephora)
Lid up to crease: Deep burgundy with black and red shimmer color from palette
Outer lid: Mid tone copper with gold shimmer from palette
Liner: MAC Teddy Eye Kohl
Mascara: Guerlain Maxi Lash (review to come)

Lips: Sephora Brand Ultra Shine Lip Gloss in Hot Pink 13 (review to come)

ENJOY!
